Quick Facts

This year a Work-in-Progress is a concise 4-page report of late-breaking findings or other types of innovative or thought-provoking work relevant for the AutomotiveUI community. The work will be presented at the conference in poster format. All accepted WIP submissions will be available in the ACM digital library. Submission details will be published at www.auto-ui.org/19/authors/work-in-progress.

Submission format: Submissions should observe the CHI Extended Abstract template and should be no more than 4 pages (not including references and auxiliary information). Templates for submission (Word and LaTeX) can be found here: https://www.auto-ui.org/19/authors/templates/

Participate in the reviewing process: One author from each submitted WIP submission should be nominated to act as a reviewer. Each nominated reviewer will be expected to review approximately two other WIP submissions. This will not only lower the burden on reviewers, but also provides you an opportunity to get a sense of what others are presenting as WIP submissions.

At the Conference: Accepted submissions will be presented as a poster during the conference.

After the Conference: WIP papers are accessible in the conference adjunct proceedings, available on the ACM Digital Library.

What is a work-in-progress?

WHAT IS A WORK-IN-PROGRESS?

A Work-in-Progress is a concise 4-page report of late-breaking findings or other types of innovative or thought-provoking work relevant for the AutomotiveUI community. They represent work that either has not reached a level of completion expected of a conference paper or for which a conference paper is not the most effective communication method. That said, appropriate submissions should make a contribution to the body of AutomotiveUI knowledge, whether realized or promised. A significant benefit of a Work-in-Progress derives from the discussion between the author and conference attendees fostered by the face-to-face presentation of the work. Work-in-Progress abstracts appear in the AutomotiveUI Adjunct Proceedings. The authors retain copyright, and the material from them can be used as the basis for future publications as long as there are significant revisions from the original.

For each submission, one of the authors (i.e., an author of the PCS submission, which is usually the contact author) must be nominated to act as a reviewer for other WIP submissions. Each nominated reviewer will be expected to review two proposals. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn about cutting-edge research. In addition, for PhD students, it may be an excellent first exposure to the review process.
